Ecclesia College @ Roger’s State University – 12/12/2011
The Ecclesia Royals (3-13) traveled to Claremore, OK to face Roger’s State University Monday night. Roger’s State was recently ranked number 5 in the nation at the NAIA D1 level. The first match-up between these two schools made for an exciting half as the Royals were able to hang around for the first half but eventually lost the game 66-96.
Monday night was a different story as the Royals were unable to come out strong and RSU was able to extend their lead rapidly in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Royals kicked it into gear and played with the heart and determination we are used to seeing out of this young group and prevented RSU from extending their lead any further for the final 10 minutes of the half. The score at the break was 46-25.
The second half again showed the true spirit of the Ecclesia Royals basketball program as the players were picking each other up and continued to play their absolute best despite the half-time score. Unfortunately the number 5 team in the nation was too much to match and the Royals lost the game with a final score of 97-61. The Royals were led by Sophomore David Eichler with 13 points while Junior Bryant Jackson chipped in 11 points off the bench in just his third game back from injury.
The Royals will face Lyon College on Saturday, December 17th at HOME at Har-Ber- High School for the final game of 2011.
Ecclesia College @ John Brown University – 12/5/2011
The Ecclesia Royals (3-11) traveled to Siloam Springs, AR to face John Brown University (9-1) for their second match-up of the year. The first match-up resulted in a 80-54 loss at home for the Royals.
The Royals could not match the defensive intensity or offensive patience of JBU and lost the game 88-51. Sophomore Harold Reed and Sophomore David Eichler were the only two Royals to reach double figures with14 points and 11 points respectively. Tucker Trumbo led JBU with 18 points.
The Royals will face NAIA D1 Roger’s State University and their second match-up of the year on Monday, December 12, 2011. RSU is ranked in the top 5 nationally.
Williams Baptist College @ Ecclesia College 12/3/11
The Ecclesia Royals played host to Williams Baptist on Saturday December 3rd, 211 in the second portion of the “Home and Home” match-up between the two. WBC came out on top earlier in the season with a 53-52 win that came down to the final seconds.
The Royals, determined for revenge, struck first and opened up with a 7-0 lead. After a time-out by WBC, the Royals opponents regrouped and were able to get back into the game. After this, WBC was able to take a 42-28 lead into the break. The Royals held WBC to only 16 first half points in their first meeting. Only 4 players were able to score in the first half for the Royals led by Freshmen Brandon Brzozkiewicz who had 12 first half points.
The Royals opened the second half looking like a completely different team and were getting defensive stop after defensive stop, but could not convert on offense. The lead was whittled down to 7 with under 12 minutes remaining but the Royals could not push any further and surrendered the lead further. The game ended with WBC earning their second victory on the season, both of which came over the Royals, 85-66.
The Royals will face John Brown University in Siloam Springs, AR in their second match-up of the year tonight (Monday, December 05, 2011).
